Why it works the way it does
Most blockers in this category work by sending evidence of what you looked at to a company’s servers, where a report is generated and someone else reads it. That model has a cost which is not usually printed on the box: a permanent, searchable, breachable record of the most private part of your life. It has been breached before, at a scale of hundreds of thousands of people.
We did not want to build that. So we did not.
What cocloc does to block porn happens on your own computer. There is no server of ours in that loop, so there is nothing we could be asked to hand over, nothing to sell, and nothing to lose. When the accountability partner ships, what they receive will be events — “uninstall requested at 01:14” — not images.
None of that is a compliance exercise. It is the reason to pick this one.
And why 24 hours
Because a blocker you can switch off is a suggestion.
On cocloc Lock, loosening anything — pausing, unblocking a domain, turning a layer off, uninstalling — becomes a request now, confirmable no earlier than tomorrow. Tightening is instant, always. The delay only ever runs in the direction of more protection.
It reads like a limitation, right up until the night it works.
What we will not do
- We will not claim it is impossible to bypass. You stay an administrator on your own machine and we do not take that away. We make removal slow, deliberate and logged. Not impossible.
- We will not claim it covers your phone or your work laptop.
- We will not describe the screen layer as if it is here.
- We will not pretend a false positive cannot happen.
- We will not call any of this a substitute for help from an actual person.

Where the product actually is
Version 0.2.0, the network layer and nothing above it, in early access. There is no public download: builds go out in small batches to people we have spoken to. We are publishing the site in that state rather than describing a product that does not exist, because the whole pitch is that we tell you the truth about what this software can see and what it can do.
In this build
- Network blocking. A domain blocklist in the Windows hosts file, so blocked domains fail to resolve in every browser and every app, including private windows. Plus a policy that turns DNS-over-HTTPS off in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox.
- A 121-domain blocklist, curated by hand, plus a 15-domain never-block list for health, recovery and education.
- A pill and a tray icon, and an instant pause from either one on the free tier.
Not in this build
- The screen layer. Coming. The detection code exists and is tested. It is wired to nothing that ships. No capture, no model running, nothing on your screen. Sensitivity levels are uncalibrated and we are not going to sell them as precision.
- cocloc Lock. The 24-hour gate is designed and the commitment model is settled, but it is not purchasable: no payment processor is live. Every button on this site goes to a waitlist, on both tiers.
- The accountability partner. Coming. Not built.
What follows from how it works
A browser using a DNS-over-HTTPS provider the policy does not cover, a VPN, or a raw IP address gets around the hosts file. There is no packet filtering, no virtual adapter, no traffic decryption and no certificate installed. Windows 10 has never been tested.
